SAME SAME BUT DIFFERENT. Zur Dialektik der Kommunikation zwischen Kongruenz und Differenz.

Gaycops leben in einer dialektischen Mischwelt von Gleich und Anders: Ihre Chance und Herausforderung ist es zu beweisen, dass das Gleiche auch anders geht. Das passiert aber nicht zufällig, sondern braucht kreativ bewusste Gedankenarbeit.

Mit dem Vortrag will ich den vor allem in organisierten Gesellschaften bestehenden Wunsch nach Gleichheit und Gleichrichtung und die mehrheitlich danach ausgerichtete gesellschaftliche Kommunikation als Restriktion des Denkens und als Repression des Handelns darlegen. Zugleich soll das Potenzial von Kommunikation als Ressource  von Überraschung nicht nur theoretisch, sondern auch für die Praxis der Öffentlichkeitsarbeit sichtbar werden.

Die Welt ist, wie wir sie denken. Denken wir eindimensional und in Ergebnissen, dann ist die Welt faktisch, praktisch, eindeutig. Organisationen sind Denk- und Handlungsmuster, die die Komplexität  von gesellschaftlichen Verhältnissen auf wenige, wenn nicht oft auf eine Dimension  reduzieren. Der Vieldeutigkeit wird Eindeutigkeit abgenötigt, die Theorien werden auf ihre Praktikabilität geprüft und Möglichkeiten und Optionen werden durch das Dogma des Faktischen ins Abseits gestellt.

Organisationen brauchen Kommunikation wie Kommunikation Organisation braucht. Wo aber Kommunikation als die soziale Praxis, durch die Wirklichkeit verhandelt wird, organisiert wird, wird es schwierig die Organisation zu kommunizieren. Die Logik der Organisation setzt auf Gleichrichtung und Gleichschaltung, während die Logik der Kommunikation auf Differenz setzt. Selbst das Konsensmodell der Verständigung ist logisch nur denkbar unter der Voraussetzung von Differenz.

Öffentlichkeitsarbeit braucht in einer komplexen und multioptionalen Gesellschaft ein Kommunikationsmodell, das an der Diversität von Kultur orientiert ist. Das setzt eine Kultur von Diversität voraus, die wieder nur denkbar ist der Voraussetzung von kommunikativer Ethik: Empathie, Vertrauensvorschuss und die  Entlastung von Wirklichkeitsordnungen (same same) durch die Unterbrechung (but different)  von Alltagsroutinen.

Towards dialectic of communication between consensus and difference

Gaycops are living in a world that is mixed by difference or even by contradiction of similarity and otherness:  their chance and challenge is to verify that they do the same job as the majority does even if they do it from another identity feeling and knowing that they are valued as “the others” This con not just be done passing by or coincidently, it needs a creative work of consciousness.

That is the reason why by this presentation I would like to explain that the desire of similarity and uniformity is ideologically typical for organized (ordered) societies and is a sort of restrictive thinking and of regressive action, while it is the power of communication being a resource of difference in theory and practice (communication power of public relations is not discourse, but dialogue)

The world is as we think it. When we think it in one dimension and just in the interest of results, then the world is not more than a system of facts, practicability and definitions. Organizations are such models of thinking and acting. It is their interest to reduce the complexity if possible to one dimension (reality): multi-option-view is restricted to unification, theories are downsized to practicability and options are absorbed by a dogmatization of facts.

Organizations need communication and communication needs organization (organization of diversity). Where communication (as the social practice) is just organized it will be difficult to communicate the organization, because the logic of organization is to result in consolidation, while the logic of communication is to experience the difference. Even the model of consensual understanding only is thinkable under the condition of difference of standpoints.

Applying this to the practice of public relations for gaycop association: public relations in a multiple world needs a communication concept that is oriented to diversity of cultures. That postulates a culture of diversity, which by itself postulates ethics of communication: empathy, advancement of trust, recovery from orders of reality (“same same”) by interruption of everyday routines (“but different”) of plausibility.
