The Department of Communication of the University of Vienna (Prof. Thomas Bauer) together with the Faculty of Communication of Istanbul University (Prof. Ceyhan Kandemir) organizes a 6-day summer school “Intercultural Communication in National Contexts”, close to Istanbul, Turkey for students from Austria, China and Turkey early in September 2009 (exact dates will be published soon). Update: 31 August to 6 September!
The programme will focus on
- Globalization and Media Culture
- Intercultural Journalism
- Intercultural Management in Organisations and Institutions
- Transnational dimensions of media systems
Students of Communication Science (in Master or PHD working status) are invited to apply for participation until 31 July.
Location: Beyoluglu, Marmara Sea Coast, Guest-House of Turkish Association of Journalists
Costs: for Flight (ca. € 280,-) and accommodation (full-bread, € 40,-/day) are around € 600,-. For each participant from the University of Vienna a scholarship of app. € 450,- will be granted, thus the costs for participants will be around € 150,- or slightly higher. There are no participation fees.
Conditions for submission and participation: doing a research work (theoretically, empirical- analytically) within the framework of a study program of those universities on a subject of communication, media, media work and media culture that is relevant for international and intercultural comparison
